The Federal Bureau of Investigation has published the following CALEA implementation regulations:

October 5, 2001
A Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, 66 Fed. Reg. 50931 (2001) was published by the FBI. The notice addresses the implementation of CALEA Section 109 regarding the definitions of "replaced" and "significantly upgraded or otherwise undergoes major modification." See the comments received by the FBI in response to this notice.
June 30, 2000
A Further Notice of Inquiry, 65 Fed. Reg. 40,694 (2000) was published by the FBI in the Federal Register. The FNOI seeks additional input on the various issues related to establishing a Notice of Capacity for paging, Mobile Satellite System (MSS), and Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) services.
December 28, 1999 and March 14, 2000
On December 28, 1999 and again on March 14, 2000, the FBI published a notice of information collection under review for a reinstatement and an extension of time for the Cost Recovery Regulations and the CALEA Flexible Deployment Assistance Guide, First Edition. The reinstatement and the extension can be found at 64 Fed. Reg. 72689 (1999) and 65 Fed. Reg. 13792 (2000), respectively.
December 18, 1998
The FBI published Notice of Inquiry, 63 Fed. Reg. 70,160 (1998) which initiates the development of capacity requirements for services other than local exchange, cellular, and broadband Personal Communications Services (PCS).
April 28, 1998
The FBI published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, 63 Fed. Reg. 23,231 (1998) proposing to amend the Cost Recovery Regulations by adding a new section which defines the term "Significant Upgrade or Major Modification."
March 12, 1998
The FBI published a Final Notice of Capacity, 63 Fed. Reg. 12,218 (1998) for local exchange, cellular, and broadband Personal Communications Services (PCS) carriers.
March 20, 1997
The FBI published the Cost Recovery Regulations, 28 C.F.R. pt. 100 (1997) providing for the payment of costs directly associated with CALEA assistance capability and capacity requirements. The Cost Recovery Regulations became effective on April 21, 1997.
January 14, 1997
The FBI published a Second Notice of Capacity, 62 Fed. Reg. 1902 (1997) for local exchange, cellular and broadband Personal Communications Services (PCS) carriers.
April 10, 1996
The FBI published the Telecommunications Carrier Statement Notice, 61 Fed. Reg. 15,974 (1996) for carriers to comment on the collection of information necessary to implement section 104 of CALEA.
October 16, 1995
The FBI published an Initial Notice of Capacity, 60 Fed. Reg. 53,643 (1995) for local exchange, cellular, and broadband Personal Communications Services (PCS) carriers.
