I put together a used system from some parts. My Primary Drive 0 is 10 GB, Primary Drive 1 is 6 GB.
I also have a floppy and a CD Burner. When I boot up it’s beeping with a Secondary Hard Disk Drive 1 not found error message.
All the drives work fine.
I don’t know if I have the cables hooked up wrong, wrong order, or who knows what.
It’s a modified Dell Optiplex 110. Does anyone have any ideas what’s wrong?
Thanks.

Primary Disks 0 and 1 are found, Right?
Secondary 0 should be the CD, while secondary 1 does not exist, because nothing else is attached to the secondary IDE bus except the CD. Make sure that the CD jumper is placed as "master" or "alone".
Go carefully through the BIOS settings, making sure that the Secondary IDE is in automatic detection mode.
Update the Mother Board BIOS to its up to date version.
Just for the heck of it attach a HD or a CD as a Slave in the secondary IDE port and see if the machine shuts up.

I will compare what you have said with what is currently set up.
Current setup
One cable is labeled HDD1 and HDD2. Primary HDD which is set to cable select is connected to HDD1 while 2nd hard drive(Slave) is attached to the HDD2 cable.
CD Burner is on a different cable. I had to put in on the end
of the 2 connector cable to get it to work.
This stuff is wearing me out, but I am glad that I have a lot faster system now, even if it is a P-3. :-)

Stay away from cable select settings and set up your drives as master (0) and slave (1). The lonely CD driver should be master or single, IF THERE IS SUCH AN OPTION in the jumper settings.

Thanks for the help. I think the major stuff is over.
Had some bad sectors in a hard drive and other issues. Luckily I had a Win98 boot floppy disk with some disk utilities on it.
