Hi All,

I'm trying to find an artilce I read about ten years ago by Quinn (this name may be incorrect - if so, it is very similar).

The topic of the essay was adding a line counter to neotepad. Does anyone have a link?

Thanks,
~J

Google "fravia + notepad" and read the FAQ before posting.

Hi Litana,

Thanks. A couple problems here.

1) What entry am I looking for (you'll have to forgive my ignorance). I did not see it.
2) FAQ has been read.

If you take offense that I consider Quine's adding functionality to notepad "Advanced", then I really don't know what to say.

Hi

Actually it's probably the name "Razzia" you're looking for, yes it's a classic tut from 10 years ago, and interestingly enough is the first hit when googling for 'fravia + notepad'.
I think this is the one you're looking for, you just had the wrong name stuck in your mind.

Hi Kayaker,

Thanks - I was not looking for a crack or anything the other nubies may want. I was incredibly impressed when I read it, and was trying to find a reference.

> you just had the wrong name stuck in your mind
I thought Quine authored it (google: 'quine + notepad').

Thanks,
~J

Also, the FAQ is very out of date... SI is no longer offered. I can send you some private emails from John Robbins stating such if you'd like.

Perhaps you have reached a Zenith in hacking - you reversed SI and now how Vista drivers and port avaliable. But I'd have to gues you're still just a cracker.

What IS your Problem?
1-LLXX and Kayaker gave you simple and effective help, Then you came back swinging?

2- If you are going to insult the hand that helped you, at least take the time to compose a sentence that makes sense.

3- Thank you for the news that SI is no longer offered. Who'd have thunk it? I am going to wipe out SoftIce from my HD right now. All the time I wasted tracing drivers with a tool that didn't exist. . . And please, share those private E-mails from Mr. Robbins so we can also enjoy such top secret information.

4- While you are at it, feel free to compose an updated version of the FAQ with your insights on Vista drivers and ports available.

We are just crackers here and are in sore need for your extensive skills and insider information from you, who obviously are: 'One of the Boys'.

Not to mention the humorous irony in the following statement towards Kayaker:

Quote:
Perhaps you have reached a Zenith in hacking - you reversed SI and now how Vista drivers and port available. But I'd have to gues you're still just a cracker.
Well no, he actually friggin is the ultimate SoftIce god, and yes, he did reverse the crap out of SI and practically knows its entire assembly code mass and inner functionality by heart, and can modify it to do whatever he wants. So no, he's probably as far from "just a cracker" as you'll ever hear about.

dELTA is being too kind of course, but this thread certainly took an interesting twist.

Careful though, Fravia himself warns in the introduction that if you read and heed the information that follows and learn anything at all, then you yourself will become a cracker. Be Warned lest ye stray down that treacherous path!!

Quote:
So, once more, READ this essay, by all means, HEAD what Razzia teaches and try this out on other targets until you master this. Here you'll go, right now, from "dilettante" to "advanced" crackers, here and now!

I think you might be referring to "Razziapad" (search for same in Google)

It was a simple concept of extending the PE file and changing the headers to correctly run the same. But I guess till the time Razzia wrote it, it was just a concept. I think he was the first to actually take a commercial application (Notepad) and change it and manage to write a tut about it.

A small piece of advice: Always CONFIRM whether someone has taken offense or is insulting you. It could simply be a style of conversation that they have adopted, or maybe, it is taken out of context.

SI is no longer offered, that is correct. However, wait till IDA PRO goes out of production. THEN the real issues in cracking will start.
