Ho-ok-ay. I am a big Schumi fan. Goes without saying that I also support Scuderia. Of late, I have been researching the technology Ferrari uses. Here are a few things:

1. They use Acer laptops.
2. They use AMD processors.
3. They use linux on their laptops, desktops and other servers.

I have 2 questions if anyone here is in the know:

1. Do they *really* use linux?
2. What distro do they use, if indeed use linux.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Even a site where this info can be gleaned is enough.

Fiat is Ferrari's major sponsor.
They use Shell's liquid fuel.
They use Bridgestone tires.
They use BBS rimes.
They use Brembo brakes.
They drink Martini (propably shaked).
They wear Puma.
They also use Microsoft products.

When a Ferrari crash it's priceless.

Hi,
I'm not that interested in F1 championship, but as far as i know they have superpowerfull systems to modelize the physical reaction of engines, cars about wind, rain, velocity and other phenomenons. In my opinion Linux or UNIX is not too much for this. Some professional graphists used to swear only about Sun or SGI hardware (now Mac ?) and UNIX like softwares. In my opinion, they are not using Ubuntu LTS
I guess ppl from PR are using Windows for usual reasons, a lot of people are using this operating system, but yes, why engineers wouldn't use a system totally dedicated to their jobs ?
Regards.

Yes, probably they will also use CELL processors in the future.

Howdy,

If they use software from National Instruments, it will most likely be using Windows.
Although, NI will of course customize the software for Ferrari.

NO NO NO, that's NOT what I want to hear!

I want to hear stories about dedication to the cause and carving ones name into their own back, that kind of thing..
