I have a security camera that shows a picture on my TV.

Thanks.

Swimmer:
Where is YOUR brain? Are you helpless? Should anyone else but YOU be doing your THINKING and RESEARCH?????
Put:
Recording CCTV
into YOUR favorite search engine and YOU read what YOU find. In case you don't know, CCTV stands for "closed circuit" TV!
Don't YOU watch TV??? Don't you see TV shows where crooks are captured because the security camera was recording the crime?
THINK before you ask someone else to do YOUR work.

If you give a "lazy butt" young person the answer to a "simply question" they could have "easily" found for themselves by simply using their brain and the tools they are "already" playing with, you teach them NOTHING.
If you teach them how to use the tools they already have at their fingertips, and, most importantly, if you can teach them how to actually try to use their most important tool, their own brain to "think for themselves," THEN you have truely done them a service.
You, however, are too lazy to want to even TRY to think for yourself, simply because you are too lazy to make an effort, and it's SO MUCH easier to simply let someone else do YOUR thinking for YOU.
Please feel free to go cry to your mother. She is the only one who's job description may include "feeling sorry" for you when you are caught making absolutely NO PERSONAL EFFORT to accomplish a tasks which YOU want completed.
The truely sad thing is, that in the time it took you to post your feeble attemp at "reposte," you could have easily found the answer to your question. That you preferred to do the former is a demonstration of YOUR character, not my own.

Yes, my spirit was bitter, and my insides felt sharp pain. I was ignorant and lacked insight; I was as senseless as an animal before you. But I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me by your wise advice, and then you will lead me to a position of honor. Whom do I have in heaven but you? I desire no one but you on earth. My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability. Yes, look! Those far from you die; you destroy everyone who is unfaithful to you. But as for me, God’s presence is all I need. I have made the sovereign Lord my shelter, as I declare all the things you have done. Psalms 73:21-28

Howdy,
The short answer to your question is yes it can be recorded BUT........
You will need the proper connection for a commercial VCR which will only record up to 6 hours OR.........
You can purchase a CCTV VCR that will record 24 hours of video OR,
You can go digital and really crank it up. You can buy a seperate digital recorder or you can use a pc.
Frame rates also affect the ammount of storage. If you use a shitty frame rate you can stretch a vcr tape to some ungodly number like 900 hours BUT, at one frame per say 5 seconds you will miss a lot. You can do the same with a digital rig and then the numbers become outrageous.
You want to sit down and view 1000 hours of video or do you want to go multiple tape, say, change the tape every 6 hours?
The options are so numerous it defies explanation.
So my friend, why dont you take your enlarged cranium and SEARCH for what you want to do.

Howdy,
You took it very well. Please understand you are asking a question with multiple answers. How can we possilbly answer your question with anything more than a yes answer.
You need to bring a lot more details as to what you want to do.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." -- Ezekiel 25:17

"I've been sayin' that $#!+ for years. And if you heard it -- that meant your ass. I never gave much thought to what it meant -- just always thought it was some cold-blooded $#!+ to say to a motherfscker before I popped a cap in his ass. Saw some $#!+ this morning that made me think twice. See, now I'm thinkin', maybe you're the evil man, and I'm the righteous man, and Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protectin' my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could mean -- you're the righteous man, I'm the shepherd, and it's the world that's evil and selfish. Now I'd like that. But that $#!+ ain't the truth. The truth is -- you're the weak, and I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo -- I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd."

I post things asking for help. I like helping others when they ask for help.
This is off topic area, so I didn't expect to get hit with Ninja stars. :-)
Have a good one.

Well Swimmer:
Not to get "Holier Than Thou" with those who resort to quoting their favorite work of scripture when things don't go their way, but did you actually ever "bother" to try the search criteria I gave you in my first Post??
If you actually had checked it out you would have found the answer to your question and not needed to engage in the Bible Thumping. Having been raised on the " hellfire and brimstone" long before you were even conceived, I have never been impressed with thoses who blithly suggest that "God" may be on "their" side.
And actually, I did not hit you with "ninja stars." I merely hit you with the logical conclusion that you had failed to make any effort to help yourself, and that conclusion is still self-evident.

You still have spent far more effort in defending your position than you originally did in researching the answer to your question on your own.

Still, the Simpsons and other frivolities aside, the original question and the problems related to it bring up some good points. The answer to the original question is of course, "of course". Many units will come with wiring and instructions to do just that, record to VCR.
But as was brought up, do you really want to record hundreds of hours of tape? Probably not. A logical solution then, depending on your needs, would be a motion activated security system such as provided with the popular X10 modules. DVD recorders now have hard drives capable of storing at least 160hrs at medium quality and aren't very expensive.
However what are you going to be using it for? Say you've got your house "protected" with a motion triggered surveillance camera wired into your fancy new DVD recorder. Unless the camera and recorder are well hidden in the first place, the first thing the thief is going to steal are those two items.
What is it you're really asking skywalker? How to hook things up or suggestions on what a good surveillance system might entail?
