Hi there, maybe JMI can shed some info on why I can't get exetools to send me a new password
Have tried a number of times but no email arrives. Had a severe crash and lost all the info and the backups

Hi hobferret:

Send me a PM here and I'll change your password to whatever you need, without the email confirmation. Good to see you back.

I tryed to register some time ago... and i always that message: "Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator."

Aaron decides to open registration from time to time.

Most of the new members only join in hope of getting access to the attachments, but there is a 15 post minimum and those posts have to be approved by some guy using the nick JMI.

And don't count on familiarity with JMI helping your Exetools posts gain "of value" status - could be just the opposite! (of course it's been over a year since I gave up trying to reach the coveted 15 (and that number increases exponentially as you gain posts!))

Certainly sounds like "sour grapes" to me.

You have a total of 4 posts on Exetools. The first was made on 08-20-2004; the second on 07-06-2005 ( which is a copy of an email you got from Woodmann about ISP problems with "this" forum; the Third was on 08-18-2005; and the last one on 03-06-2006.

Since there was a full year between your first and second Post, which was before the "post-count" system was even implimented and I do not recall deleting any of your Moderated Posts, it seems hard to argue you were/are a dedicated contributor to the Exetools Forum, which, of course, is your privilege. Your last post, in the IDA.Pro.Advanced.v4.9.0.863 Thread was certainly "of substance" and I am confident that any Posts you attempted of similar caliber would not have been "disapproved" by me.

hobferret has been a regular contributor and is currently a VIP member with 143 posts, although his posting has decreased since some serious medical issues slowed him down a bit.

So instead of bitching about what you "haven't done," why don't you try to contribute "again," since you have obviously become a "skilled" reverser!

Aaron is the only one who bypasses the "post-count" system and/or authorized "special consideration" for members and it was "he" who established the promotion system in place there. I just "implement" it.

Well, the actual word is "implement".

Another example of my meaningless post, increasing my total posts up one notch. ehehehhhheheheheh!!!!

I freely confess that, despite 55 years of trial and error, I still frequently make spelling errors in the writing of my native English language.

Thus, another example of a "meaningless post" also increasing my post count up another notch.

JMI,

Well, considering a few of my posts here have been lost in various board software glitches, including the one that summarized the one absolute moment of clarity that I've ever had and described the ultimate solution to ALL cracking problems - starting with the Enigma machine (why hasn't anyone named a packer Enigma???? - Nico are you there???), I imagine much extremely valuable and prescient insights were similarly lost on Exetools -(actually I discovered Exetools before re-entering the RCE game and was very intimidated by the knowledge I found there) - in the mean time I found this community much easier to harass than your crowd over there - still took about a year of hide and learn here! ( my guess is my actual post count over there is somewhere between 6-10, I know I received a PM from there regarding my computer configuration described in a post)

SiGiNT

I pledge in the future to pay more visits to Aaron's place there certainly is much to gain there - I checked a PM notice I found in one of my junk E-mail accts and it has been 145 days since I've been there.

Keep in mind I moderate on 2 other boards and inhabit about 4 related to my trade.

I have no access to the server for the Exetools Forums and do not have anything to do with its maintenance and/or lack thereof. Aaron runs the server himself, I believe out of his home. While I have access to the FTP, I have had no part in the many issues which have arisen with the server there. So far, THIS is the only server I've ever caused to crash. So to the extent that you may believe any of your Posts are MIA, I can claim no responsibility for such an event.

Again, I repeat, you are still a registered member there, and had activity on your account on September 24, 2007, although your last post was on March 6, 2006. You are still welcome to post there and could be a valuable contributor if you wished to be. That's entirely up to you.

@JMI
What are the criteria of the post in Exetools? I post several times but only appear once.

OK Guys. Let's keep in mind that this is the "Off Topic" Forum and "Topics" which are "Off Topic" from the "Regular Topics" of these Forums are permitted here. There is no requirement that they be about the RCE Forums.

Hmmm.... I remember loo-oo-ong ago, I used to leech of his server... Specially IDA 3.2 full doh!

He always seemed to have good stuff.... specially the "incoming" directory.

Was saddened when one fine day his server crashed, I tried to login it said no such user and it never accepted new accounts henceforth...

But then, there were so many exetools elsewhere...

Reading back a couple of posts - GEEZ GUYS chill! (not you JMI you're not supposed to ), the answer is simple and I was not really complaining, just yanking JMI's chain a little - anyway all you have to do is post over there and not think about whether or not it's a valuable post - eventually you'll make the required amount, it really is a necessary rule, I frequent a board where post count was once the benchmark for access to protected forums and they had to ban thank you posts - we had people at random posting 100's of thank you's a day, It's not an unfair rule for board to ask you to contribute before you can leech. In short just enjoy and contribute and all will be golden.
