I tried to run Softice from within a VMware running W2k on W2k. I used the latest Driver Studio 2.5beta1, but upon video driver selection it said sth like "Test failed! Video driver not DirectDraw compatible". I also tried not to use the universal video driver, but same results: I hit Ctrl+D and nothing shows up, I type "X"+return w2k continues.
Any clues? I read in a post below as a suggestion to run SI in VMware, so I suppose anybody must already have succeeded in running one.

Hey..
My experience is that softice will only work in VMWare if you DON'T install their video drivers disk... cuz they hacked video drivers cause problems w/ si.

so you're saying your're running your VMware with 640x480 16 colors only? and that works?

No, I'm saying you can't install their video drivers... so SI will work in full screen only... @ 640x480x256 I believe... and I was unable to get /tracex to work for some reason... I wish it would work perfect... but it doesn't
