In win98, i copy the icedump.exe to softice directory, and then run icedump.exe,
got the message:

icedump v6.0.2.2 for winice v4.05 builder 334 loader
icedump was not loaded yet
VXDLDR failed to load icedump

what can i do then?

hehe don't Be a shame that u are a newbie.

First of all :

Download IceDump.
Extract it with winZip or something in some dir u will create for.
now after extraction u will see some dirs.
If u use win98 than enter the dir called "WIN9X"
if u are on NT enter the dir "WNT"
now u said u in win98 so enter that dir.
now there are alot of Dirs..
Every dir contain a special VxD to each Version of SoftICE (Dos/win).
it's start with the first Version of Softice:
3.22 Untill u will reach the latest built: 4.05.526
Now inorder to know which SoftICE version u have, Load up SoftICE (ctrl+d) and type "VER"
than u will see the SoftICE version + Built.
Now that u know what built u got, enter the proper DIR and load up the VxD (icedump.exe).

Example:
My SoftICE ver = SoftICE 4.0.5 (Built 334)
than i enter the dir called: \4.05.334\
LOAD iceDump.exe
and violla u have IceDump VxD running and ready to use.

LOAD icedump.exe means adding a line
LOAD=icedump.exe in winice.dat ?

double click it the version of icedump.exe is the same version of softice and

you will see a windows prompt what Bongaly has said to you.

don't add it in winice.dat

No Need to add anything to Winice.dat
Just extract the icedump6.zip and choose the folder of Sice version and double click thr EXE

IM no newbie.
BUt i face that problem too.THe VXD just wont load, even though i have the correct version of ICEDUMP loaded
Must trace it to some other problem.Dunno what though
