Hi there!
I don't know why but i happen to have some interests in the inner workings of Winice.
I've been searching in Fravia's old fortress and found that most docs about winice reversing deal with cracking the 'commercial' protection. But none (or very little) about how it works.
Needless to say any pointer is very much appreciated!!

Speaking for myself, I had started to write
such a document, explaining SoftICE
internals and undocumented commands,
breakpoints, FGJM/BCHK/INT 41 interfaces, etc.

But reading it back from the FrogsICE coder's
point of view, I realized that would give plenty
of free amnos to protectionnists. Not that I
care much about warez group crackers, I just
don't want mediocre coders to make money
by just copy-pasting what they find on the
Internet (like 99% of anti-debug code you will
find today).

Hmm, that's not very helpful I'm afraid, but that
could explain why you cannot find documents
about it (but you can still get IRC/message
board help).

Hey Spath! thanks for the reply.
I think your attitude was the right one and i agree with you; that info should not be given to copy-paste lammahs .
But let me insist..all i need is some kind of pointer. Some starting point to begin unraveling. For example i would like to know how breakpoints are handled, where they are kept and so on.
If you could provide such starting point, i would appreciate it very much . But again, i don't pretend your full doc, just some tip.
If you want/have the time to help me just mail the info to latigo_at_ciudad_dot_com_dot_ar.
If you cannot/don't want, thanks anyway .

Bye and thanks Spath.

this will get you going, but you have a long road ahead... my time is simply too limited to help you (much) more, but feel free to ask specific questions, eventually i or someone else will answer.
