Hi!
This board has changed both in design & location !
The new look is great, but the problem I got is quite funny...
I started cracking and all that stuff and always I've read that cracking VB was easy... but when i tried... i did fail... until I got a patch for W32Dasm so it could desasamble VB progg's, but It doesn`t work for VB6...
I tried looking for Doddy's decompiler... no luck that thing doesn't seem to work even for small proggs...
So I'm looking for some help...
can any one help me? my actual target is a huge and dedicated proggy and I donīt know where to start...

Well what program are you working on for starters?
That said, what kind of protection does the app have? (i.e. time trial, serial, limited/diabled functions, etc)
Now, is it normal code or pcode? (This'll help determine what sorts of tools you'll need for the job)
That's as much as I can help without knowing at least that much.

VB Cracking, fun for all ;p
for normal vb stuff, try and use Numega SmartCheck (http://www.numega.com) else if its pcode, the only program i know of that can help (apart from softice of course) is my buddy jocos ExDec, (#cracking4newbies on efNET (type !exdec))

The target is a contability program, named BASEGES, it is spanish, and I don't think u can download it... too big... any way the URL is www.pi-sa.net or www.baselec.es
the proteccion scheme... well filemonitor said it was looking for a key disk, to get a code ŋ? and then I had to get a licence number from them with both the aplication get's registered... (well, i guess is not too much, but I'm not but a newbie I think

)
There is a CRC check too (the aplication says so...)
and there is something that disturbes me a lot... it sais it's illigal to decompile, disensamble or modify any file...
Pcode ? don't know what it is... but dody's kind of check said it was not protected... so i guess it's not

I just saw this thread and had a similar question about a VB6 program. The program is called DataFit and it can be downloaded from http://www.oakdaleengr.com/download.htm
I have spent hours trying to track down where the license code gets verified but have had zero luck so far. It seems to use Unicode strings.
P.S. How do I turn on "HTML Tags"? When I post the indicator says they are "off".

i've wrote a simple essay describing how
to you SmartCheck to reverse VB5 and 6 non-pcoded apps.
It can show you the basics of how to approach a VB program, in case you don't know how to do it with SI.
Just thought it might help ya out..
BTW, VB uses widechar (or was it the other one? somethign with Ucode.. forgot..) by default.
Also, EB's site (look up for URL!) is a great resource for approaching VB progs, espeically with SI.
The URL for my essay is :

Good luck dude, and once you figure VB out, you'll see why it's a joke ;p

Very nice essay. Your command of English is appreciated. Many essays are very hard to read because the authors speak English as a second or third language. They are understandable, but even the best-written ones need to be read and re-read several times. When you add bad English into the mix it's a sure prescription for headaches. Good job!
