View Full Version : Deceptive .bat file
hello
January 19th, 2009, 08:50
A simple .bat file created, is attached with this. When i run it, i get this caution in shell window:
Quote:
“All data on non-removable disk drive E: will be lost
Proceed with format (y/n)? " |
How do i change this message?
To something deceptive like “Do you like music?”
So that i can get the user go for 'y' and get the data on his E: data erased ?

Pipe the output from the batch file through your own program which dynamically changes the outputted text strings.
Or alternatively, write/hack your own format command which you can put in your own batch file.
From your other posts, it appears you know both C and assembler, so it shouldn't be difficult.

Squidge …thank you.
You have suggested 2 methods to work out with this problem.
1.
Quote:
Pipe the output from the batch file through your own program. |
2.
Quote:
write/hack your own format command which you can put in your own batch file. |
Yes... I recognize the idea; I would like to learn both the methods you have mentioned.
Could you please ... enlighten me a little more on this spot!!
Regards…

What do you want to learn? I assume you already know about IDA and related tools for modifying executables?
As for the previous, have a look at CreateProcess and process pipes.

Hello. .bat reversing is an oxymoron. Batch files and their commands were designed for c/pm 40 years ago, for otherwise clueless customers. . . What you are asking is somewhere between laughable and idiotic. I am really hoping you realize that. Otherwise the joke is almost funny. . .

Whats laughable is that he probably downloaded that batch file from a website, had no clue what it contained or how it worked, so asked here for how to change the text that appeared when it ran.

A person like you with a level of knowledge can respond a bit more compassionately; instead of choiring with clowns and other one-liners who neither has anything but LOL to offer to those who request for help.
A simple one line in a notepad as format E: raises so many amused responses?
Still I fail to see ….but keep remembering....

I admire your persistence in the face of the cynics, but this quote, as well as this endeavor is pretty cheesy. Have you forgotten gene's? Natural talent? Albert Einstein ring a bell?
I don't know much about batch files, but my dad used to work with them. If I remember correctly, just open the damn thing up in notepad and change the text line. It should start with @echo or something.
