Administrator Note:

NOTICE!!! bunion is apparently as "mentally challenged" and "self-absorbed" as Jo_ti and not only didn't READ THE FRIGGIN FAQ either, he also ignored the entire content of this Thread, except Jo_ti improper request for a link to commercial software.

Apparently bunion thought he would be a "hero" by posting a link to the commercial software. Instead, he is very very close to joining the "Goners" and being banned from these Forums.

Fair warning given!!!

bunion give me pm for that instead of posting here.

I think it would be better if i should try to find some other forum. I do not why you guys are reacting like this. Just providing a commercial soft to someone is not illegal.

But anyways according to your froum this is in the rules. So i dont need to say anything.

That's because you haven't been around long enough to have had to deal with, or even know about complaints which have been made against our server providers because of such events or that some have resulted in our having to move our Forum somewhere else.

But since what YOU want seem to be all that is important to YOU, it would be perfectly fine with US if YOU wish to take YOUR questions about where YOU can find someone's commercial software to some other Forum.

Apology from my side,

I was not having any idea that providing a soft link can cause trouble to forum hosting. Next time, i will keep in my mind.

Really strange thing, i really never heard about this that a author can do that kind of thing.

Not to worry. The "warning" was not only for you, but for those who follow.

It wouldn't be such a big deal if we hadn't been bounced from a couple of server companies just because of such issues.

Live link or not, software makers can search forums such as ours to see if their software is mentioned, as if it is, whether or not there is a link to an "unapproved" download, whether "clickable" or not.

Such issues are easily handled through PM and then "We" don't get in trouble and get booted ... again.

Enough said.

Howdy,

This is a good thread to remind everyone of these things.

It is just as JMI said. They (softwaremakers/authors) use Google to find out about forums like this.
While we here need to have bots crawl so we can show up in your search results, they also scour this site and record EVERY SINGLE WORD.

So even when you name a software, not even with a link but just use the name, it will show up in a Google, MSN and Yahoo search.

The next thing that happens is those search engines and my server host get legal notification of a violation with the usual threats of legal action.
The result of that is the search engines stop returning results with the woodmann.com name.
How my server host reacts is a different story. Some just put my server offline and refuse to give me my stuff back. Those of you who have been around here long enough know it takes us 1-2 weeks to get this place back up and running when we get an immediate shutdown.

We have been with this current server host for 2-3 years and is seems to me that this has been the longest run with one host EVER.

So, while I know there are times you need to use a name, just make it available VIA PM.

And read the rules twice when in doubt.

Thanks for understanding and dont mind the dog(JMI) he bites but it only hurts for a minute.

Nah! Your just showing your "true nature" .... that you care a great deal more about fishing that you do about online "warrior" games, where groups fight off monsters, and aliens, and such evil doers. The game hasn't been around long enough for you to be too old to have heard of it. You just weren't interested.
