On the iND release of IDA PRO 5.5, i'm not getting the Bosch/Windbg to get running (freezing).
Of course, I'm using Vista, could be the case, but releases for IDA are notorious in breaking the functionality...
Can somone who's also leeched the same confirm if its IDA 5.5 (the warezed copy) OR my environment that's doing something wrong?
Sure, I've read the docs. Made changes to both bochs and windbg cfg and yidda yidda...

To get you some wider exposure for your question, I have also posted the question on the Exetools Forum. If there are any responses there, I will post them here for you.

Hi,
I am currently using windbg in ida and it works fine (XP sp3 here).
Ida didnt ask me windbg path nor anything after installation

check if you installed windbg correctly and symbols package from M$.
Havent tried bochs.

To get you some
even wider exposure for your question, I have also posted it on the IDA Pro support forums. If there are any responses (or lawsuits) there, I will post them here for you.
Their first question was if they could please have your name and address?

hi aimless,
i'm afraid it's your setup.
just played around a bit with the bochs debugger (use bochs 2.3.7, 2.4.2 didn't work for me - "failed to inspect registers" ...) in idb-mode and pe-mode.
both working fine for me with xpsp3 and ida 5.5.0.925t !
cheers,
dirkmill :B

What I meant is that he is looking to find out whether or not someone with his similar set up is also having an issue similar to his.
For example, it might work correctly on XPSP3, and not work correctly on Vista.
I'm not suggesting it should or shouldn't, only noting that he was inquiring about a particular set up, which is running on Vista.
The underlying question, I suppose, is whether
this release works with Vista and the other software he is asking about.

My feedback on this probably won't be all that helpful, but I've used my legit version of 5.5.0.925 on Vista without any problems.

Aimless:
Git posted on Exetools:
Maybe not relevant, but the Local Bochs Debugger is working OK here under 64bit XP (32bit target)
dedificator posted:
For me, it's working.
I'm running Windows7 32bit RTM, Bochs 2.4.1 (latest 2.4.2 ends up with 'Failed to inspect registers').
Under Vista i had many other issues too, that aren't present in W7.
Maybe this will be some help.

JMI, I concur with the last post. Vista it is I think.
Disa, nod of the hat to you for using the 'legit' version.

To send Aimless a legitimate copy or a court summon?
