I started a topic on anticrack.de, similar to 0xf001's page, to gather frequently asked questions, links to tools and papers regarding Linux reversing. A thread similar to this one existed on the French Reverse Engineering Team but now disappeared

A "guide" is a bit abusive, I'd like to provide pointers to those materials and thus push people to look further, by themselves. instead of feeding them with step-by-step / press-this / jump-that, tutorials. (No misrespects to tuts authors, I just find this method of learning is overabused..)

This is a long journey so if you have links, suggestions or ideas i'd be pleasured to take them in consideration

PS: I plan to do the same with Windows, it will contain links to zines, famous tutorial series, interesting articles.. this is way more difficult due to the mass of materials available!

Nice, i like your idea especially for windows.
My suggestion would be to write even a list of known sites covering all aspects of rce (cracking, malware, keygenning, exploits etc).
By visiting some sites you can find links for others but i have never found (so far) a site who collected all links seriously (you cant even image how much knowledge is cut off this way). I think that woodmann should be the correct place where to start such a project

Thanks for your suggestions, well concerning the Windows list it won't be hosted on Anticrack.de; While trying to get the list as exhaustive as possible I'll be forced to add some links that doesn't comply with rules.
I agree with the idea of categories, however it cannot contain all links on the Web.. A lot of articles on the Net are repeating the same things..so I must be selective.

Another ethical question comes to me, I'd like people to really think about the choice they have to use all of this knowledge in a good way.. My lack of vocabulary makes this sound naive but I wouldn't like those lists to be considered as pushing people to the dark side you know.. So the question is: should I skip illegal content because it can make prejudices ? Or should I keep'em in the name of information freedom ? The information still exists even if I don't reference it after all, doesn't it ?

I guess it depends on the definition of "illegal". But if you only mean links to tutorials that deal with "real protections" etc, we normally don't have any problems with that. These are often necessary on order to learn things properly, especially when it comes to "generic protections" like packers etc.

Very cool. I just entered the RCE world, and I am finding I have got a lot of reading ahead of me , but I suppose if you want learn anything and actually understand it you must valiantly study the subject, and I'm up for the challenge . Thanks for the guide.
