Bah, what's the point in repeating an answer that's in the FAQ and has an entire category devoted to it in the CRCETL? We might as well dismantle both if they're not even going to be used. So much for trying to stimulate self initiative and searching strategies.

They'll learn soon enough that even though PEiD is useful, it's results are by no means guaranteed, and some protectors can fool PEiD. Then they'll have to crack open Ollydbg to work out the real protection.

or alternatively they could use protection id, which gives considerably more accurate results than peid

Yes, but PEiD is still a good tool to keep. If they are really interested they should have atleast read the FAQ once, or googled around a bit. Being in there shoes, I might make the same mistake though. So no hard feeling from me, but some will never learn .
