Hi all,
I might want to use this (or a derivative of it more) project in an open source project:
http://www.woodmann.net/fravia/rpat-en.html
The e-mail address provided doesn't work anymore and neither does the other one for that guy I found floating around. It is legally copyrighted by him and so I can't use it. I know this isn't really the forum for legalities and such and I might just end up rewriting from scratch for similar support anyway, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. Anyone know how to get in contact with them? Is there by chance a general copyright that applies to material posted on this site I could use? I didn't see any such notices. Thanks!

Hi

I don't see any indications of copyright in the article or source code, I doubt the "(C) myself" means much. This simply looks like a freely published tutorial, like most everything else on this site since its inception. Since parts of the c source were derived from objdump from GNU Binutils, which is GPL, I'd suggest that the usual polite credit to author's idea is the only requirement.

Perhaps someone knows what became of RedPlait, but it's been 10 years since that nickname has been on the scene. It's considerate of you to inquire about it, but I'd say the information is yours to make good use of, just like any other material posted here.

Regards,
Kayaker

Howdy,

I dont see any copyrights.
It's a 10 year old paper and is *nix based on freely distributed libs.

Thanks for the replies. I think the objdump basis is probably what I need as that should cover it under GPL. Although public checkout seems to be down as I write this, if I update it, it will be under git://git.rpisec.net/uvudec.git, util/rpat
