EMCO UnLock IT - Overview
You can't change, move or delete a file because Windows says that it is used by another application? This is a typical situation when it's hard to decide what to do without additional assistance. Windows only suggests closing all applications that may be using the file, but it's not clear what specific applications are meant. Often, a computer reboot is the only way out in such a situation, but, in some cases, even a reboot cannot resolve the problem. What to do in this case? Is there any effective method of handling locked files and folders without a reboot? |
I hope this might be handy in malware/virus problem, just check it guys, i just unlock "virus_file.exe" or "folder " already locked by virus and i successfully deleted it!

it doesn't seem to work on some of the files. For ex: Try installing honeysp(dot)in/z111lines/bot(dot)exe . This is a well known zbot. It drops sdra64.exe in the system folder. It is locked by the Dropped file ( i think it injects itself into svchost.exe). Unfortunately UnlockIt doesn't seem to identify the lock:-(. Is this malware clever enough to be stealth or am i doing something wrong!.

Howdy,
UnlockIt wont do it because it is locked as a running process. You need to kill the process first.
A quick look at some search results indicate that sdra64.exe will be difficult but not impossible to stop.

Theres a similar program called Unlocker that does this as well, perhaps it works?

Good old SysInternals Process Explorer can "unlock" files (close practically any kind of open handle in the system) too.
