Hi all
Been slowly cracking this cd i bought from amreica protected with safedisk. Anyway after dumping and rebuilding it heaps of times i still had the safedisk check. What i have found is my dumped and rebuilt icd works fine. Safedisk had actually been removed like most of the tuts on safedisk do. Trouble was when u run the program it then creates a temporary *.exe and *.icd file and does another safedisk check with these 2 temp files then deletes them after the check. I managed to wipe out this safedisk (i presume safedisk routine) by patching my newly dumped icd. No wonder the game took so long to load with 2 whole safedisk checks. Now it loads in a second or 2. The program does this whole process again at another time on the cd which i patched also. Everything works fine with the crack on the original, copy, and on other freinds puters.
Except, always an except. When u install the game for the first time the D:\setup.exe is another safedisk routine. So it goes through all this safedisk stuff again before handing over to the install shield routine. So now i need to crack the setup.exe and setup.icd as well. If i use the original cd till u get to the first install shield screen then swap to my copy cd evrything works fine.
Has anyone else seen safedisk used like this on a cd program. Seems like they are real parinoid someone is going to copy thier cd. Just looking for any thoughts or replies on cracking the setup.exe and setup.icd file on the cd. Think i will just try and dump the setup.icd file when it is decrypted, rebuild it and see if that works as a safedisk free setup.exe Will keep trying with this last safedisk check. 3 checks down 1 to go.
Might have to write a tut on this one aye
