Does anyone knows what is going on with the reverse-engineering.net forums?. It has been down for a while now. If you are not familiar with them, they are the ones that do the binary auditor stuff. I believe they are in germany but don't quote me on that.

Howdy,

I can access the site no problem.
They appear to be in the midst of a move/change.

This is what they have posted at the moment:

Being in the moderator team I discussed several times with Zero (Thorsten S.) which is maintaining the forum, in charge of Binary Audit and crackmes.de, and previously of the 'new' +HCU school, DVL etc...
Since a long time now there was spam issues and a lack of dynamism on the site. I think he was tired of people always asking for things and never giving in return (like the big efforts he did to put a video section online that was victim of its success).

He did not noticed me of the take down though, I guess he took his decision but I believe he got some ideas behind all this.

JMI, that was the message I kept getting. But because it has been a while, feels like months, and not upgrade on that page. I was kind of wandering what was going on and if they were planning to come back or were deciding on shutting down permanently.

Howdy,

reverse-engineering.net is dead.
community.reverse-engineering.net is Binary Auditor.
crackmes.de is still crackmes.de.

No forums are working.

Sorry guys for any confusion.

reverse-engineering.net ist finally back after lots of troubles with the new server, DNS and including not being able to fetch and send mails
For the subdomains I need some more time.

@Silkut: Sorry man that I could not inform you but some ISP trouble caused a fast reaction.

By the conjecture set forth in dELTA's sig, people are ignorant, and don't RTFM or read me,thinking the 'great' master will provide for them, when in turn the 'master' wants to help, but time is short and so is life, and there are so many 'more' interesting things to do, and so many requests. There are also the other factors 'spam',fighting,'illegal activities' to think of. But the most dire thing is people not giving back of there knowledge, that 'they' have long sought and become 'somewhat' learned in. I can find no tactic to combat this..But this forum takes a huge chunk of the 'lost' and found on the internet and stores it..(Bravo!),knowledge is priceless and can be refined, modified and integrated to form new ideas, or in some cases old ideas solve 'new' problems. But I know not where I lead myself or what waters I tread.

Hi Bengaly

So where's the home of PVDasm now?

Could we get a local upload to the CRCETL at least so it's still available?

Cheers,

Hey Kayaker,

I'm thinking about what to do regarding PVDasm's site... Maybe I'll get a domain..etc, I'll see

Sure, I will upload here both newly refreshed compiled versions of x86/x64 so you could upload it to the CRCETL.

I'm in the process of re-coding my old NaCl PVDasm engine to Google's new NaCl (Native Client), so that would take a bit time from me to code on PVDasm again.

Some news.

crackmes.de

Quote:
We received an abuse mail and had to close this site. Hopefully we are back soon!
Nothing is lost and we WILL bring everything back!
Log File:

May 1st 2011: An abuse mail hit the provider. 2 virus infected files have been found (e.g. Lafarge Crackme 1 which is from 2005 !)
May 2nd 2001: The provider forced to take the website down until problems are fixed. I had to write some written shit that this will never happen again.
During May: Many thoughts on how to proceed
June 1st 2011: A phone call with the CEO of Clean MX, who is responsible for the abuse mail, resulted in that a company called ParetoLogic is responsible for the scan. They have reported during the last years (?) that crackmes.de is a full scaled virus website (muah!)
Now waiting for direct contact with ParetoLogic.

How to bring the site back:

Do some advanced virus scanning on all files
Preventing any website copying via wget etc.
Virus scanning when submitting any crackmes
No direct download, only after registering with additional Captcha
Password protection for every file with a randomly generated password for every download

Or we can do this:

Moving everything to a more secure system

So everybody say thank you to ParetoLogic. those idiots needs to know what a malicious payload is.

And they even call themselves malware analysts !
