For reasons known only to me, I love collecting 'OLD' software.

The same in question:

MOVIE: The Sum of All Fears (2002)
OS: Win95 or Win98 or Win2K, at most
S/W: Obviously, an EMAIL program -- see the inbox/outbox/sent items on top left, messages on top right, contents on bottom right and OTHER misc items on left bottom. VERY tempted to think this is OUTLOOK EXPRESS (given the style of contacts, etc). But it *SEEMS* to be DOS based.

What about a very old version of Eudora ?

We can easily guess the "start" button, XX Xxxxx something and "Secure Line". The latter one is probably a text document named like that to make it "cool"..

EDIT: Can't help it but it reminds me +F riddles.. in a way =<

If I had to guess, I'd say it's not really Windows (meant to look kind of like Windows, but the Start button doesn't look right), and not really a real e-mail app (though again meant to look kind of like a real app).

Most software used in movies is fake.

I'm extremely confident that the e-mail program is fake, and designed to look like some super-secret internally developed CIA-only software.

Also worth pointing out:

The icon for the document in the background looks like Word 2000 in the taskbar (http://alex.state.al.us/staticfiles/word_icon.jpg), but is a little different.
"LIMOUSINE" is misspelled in the subject line of the fourth from the bottom e-mail
The "PERSONAL" folder might also be misspelled.. hard to see.

Just when I thought I could open this up at airports and look uber-cool superspy or some such (and of course, not mentioning the highly probable body cavity search too, after the monitors get a hang of the supersuspicious looking proggy too).

But I say, what's a little an@l probing if you get a chance to dazzle the crowds with your "James Bond" like screen, wot?

On a side note, look at the bottom right of the visible laptop screen -- is that not the language icon you generally find in the Windows OS-es?

What I guess is it is internally made software. We have to ask them directly. From the start button we can guess it. If someone in this forum is doing such work then they can help us. Otherwise no other guesses. I heard that people use fake once for this purpose.
