Howdy,

Unless the money tree out back blooms with 100 dollar bills, I am out.

I'm going to be attending Defcon this year (finally managed to shake the money tree ). I know I'm not really a 'person of consequence' on this board but is there usually a woodmann meet up?

I know this is a little off topic but, as I have never attended before, do you have any veteran knowledge to impart?

Howdy,

I am in a holding pattern right now. Too much real life shit.
I am hoping at the least that I can get out there just to
hang out with my Woodmann people.

pHi1t3r, everyone one this board is important to me.

Probably wouldn't hurt to read http://wikitravel.org/en/Las_Vegas

I've been to Vegas before but I've never been to Defcon before. I was wondering if there was anything that was a must-see or something to avoid. The more I read about the schedule and talks, the more I wonder how I'm going to see all that I want to check out much less explore Vegas. I know how this probably sounds but I was also wondering what to pack for clothing. The convention itself seems pretty diverse. At night though, the parties look a little 'dress to impress.'
I'd like to meet up though, if you're interested. Sorry for such a disparaging comment before, Woodmann. Hopefully you can attend. Money trees like a nitrogen rich soil and they seem to respond to positive interaction although my luck with them has always been less than remarkable.

It wasn't disparaging at all. No one here is inconsequential.
You should all know that.

<hijackthread>

We have our share of "drive-by" people who only want
an answer, which is fine so long as they dont ask for
shit that they can find easily.

Depends...
During the day, you're fine in a t-shirt and shorts.
If you get invited to the higher end parties (the Microsoft party, for example), most people get a little more dressed up, like nice jeans, a collared shirt, etc.
And if you want to go to any upscale restaurants in Vegas, they'll also expect you to wear something more dressy than a t-shirt and shorts.
But if you're only planning on going to the DEF CON talks and the DEF CON public parties, then it's impossible to under-dress
