Depression set in...........

It's fucking snowing here and the leaves are still on the trees.
And they are saying it's gonna snow Saturday night.

I hate winter.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Heh... Handpicked basketsfull of fresh tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers from my garden early in the morning. Gonna make pickles for the winter.

It is 52°F; a clear, sunny, velvet-like weather I have here, pumping lots of zest to my weary body.

Move to South or better, come down here.

btw, talked to my son yesterday. He has just returned from a Jamaica cruise. He too sounded groggy to me. Must be kinda climatic shock you have over there. Was it so abrupt apart from the leaves still on the trees?

Sorry for you, Don W.

Maybe you can try to live in a tropical 3rd world country, like me, although a friend of mine has made the inverse trip.

He is living above you, and says wonders about the snow. I think it's a matter of perspective...

/me picks last frozen green pepper and sad looking tomatoes from garden and chips ice off bird-bath this morning. Weekend plans include installing snow tires.

Feel any better?

I luvs you people .

I, like Kayaker, picked the last of my frozen tomatoes.

As for climatic shock.........
Excellent choice of words my Turkish friend .

It was in the 50's F and suddenly it drops to the
mid 40's during the day.
Big snow on tap for tomorrow evening.

Well, big for October.
Pictures of this debacle may be forth coming.

I love winters.

My favourite time of the year.

Coldness. Stillness. Life at a minimum.

The focus turns inwards.

Love it.

And then.... I set the clocks 1 hour back. I'll have 25 hours today. A little optimism brightens your life. This is particularly true at times when you hear clock ticks louder than ever.

P.S. Why to put digital clocks on every damn piece of household electronics? I mean, does a microwave oven really need a timepiece? Wouldn't a countdown timer suffice?

Woodmann
October 30th, 2011, 19:48
BWAHAHAhaahaaaaaa.............

Everything in this house has a clock on it AND,
I have a separate count down timer on the 'fridge
so I can use the microwave at the same time.

Sadly, all the clocks do is remind me that I am running
late for something.
I threw away the clock next to the bed, I dont give a
shit if I'm late for work.

I wish I could say I'm sympathetic, but I'm from Texas. What is this white stuff of which you speak?

Actually, we got about a foot of snow last year in Dallas. It was weird.

And then... hell with the snow.

The weather's gone bonkers here. It's been snowing for almost 72 straight hours now. It took me an hour to get to the airport today (it's just 10 miles from where I departed) only to discover that my flight was cancelled. Then I took a nice 2 hours ride back home. 3 hours for 20 miles; you do the maths.

I heard on the news the same crazy weather conditions were recorded some 30 years ago here in Istanbul. With its 15m pop. this city's like the hell on earth. The only difference is that you have all 4 seasons. Man, I missed my hometown.

Now, who was it talking about "global warming"?

Don, your debacle picts?

Ummmmmm............

I dont have any pics. Doesn't everyone have shitty
winter weather like me ?

Actually it hasn't' been that bad. It snowed early but has
been very mild since the first of the year. It snows then rains,
throw in some ice and then a 50F day.

The grass is visible and the perennials out front have sprouted.
(I should see neither until late March/early April)

I guess March will be 20F and snow everyday.

Woodmann

Oh, I live in a rather rural area so the traffic is not a problem.
It's the untreated roads that suck.
My 9 mile ride to work takes 45 min when the roads are not clean.

No no no no no.......

Al Gore is right. Don't you know that the planets/cosmos/universe are all static ?
You know, like an IP address.

Global warming killed the dinosaurs. Oh wait, dinosaurs weren't real.
Ice age ??? Ummmmm.... didn't happen.
People like Cro-Magnon never walked the earth. Thats all fiction.

Polar ice caps have always been there.
The sun doesnt move, neither do any other planets.

THE EARTH IS FLAT.

What the hell is wrong with you people ?

Woodmann

Oh, carbon dating is all hokum.

not just busy, got a new addition to the family that doesn't allow time for anything else. Planning to go to REcon this year, so as long as life doesn't interfere, I should see you and the gang there. Are you planning on going?

Global warming..........

It has been in the 80's F for about the last week.
Everything is growing like its the middle of June.

I am a little hesitant to plant crops. It has only been
this warm at this time of year here one time in the last
140 years, according to state weather records.

Owl, I havent even thought about recon.
Perhaps I will.
