Hi,
Has anyone tried running Sice on vmware? I installed a Win98 guest OS on vmware and tried running SICE on it. I am running win2000 on the PC. The reason I want to use Win 98 is because reverse eng is easier on it than on Win2000.
I ran into a whole bunch of problems:
- vmware uses its own graphics adapter driver which gets messed up with Sice. The Directdraw capabilites are limited in the vmware driver and the OS is not able to boot with Sice running.
- trying to run sice remotely. unfortunately sice only supports ne2000 compatile/3com 3cxxx cards for remote debugging. I have a 3com card, but vmware installs its own AMD PCnet ethernet adapter and doesn't recognize any other network adapter. So I was stuck there as well.
- serial debugging. I thought of using a null modem cable to connect com1 (for sice output) and com2 (for listening on). Unfortunately my PC has only one serial port, so I am stuck there as well.
I could install another card and try this route, but was hoping if someone else has figured out a more elegant way to do this.
Thanks
