Hi all,
do you know that Skype (well MS) changed their protocol in order to push out of the door all the third party clients? They discontinued the skypekit support (the app which allowed to third party developer to interact with skype using an SDK).
Here the news for example at the MS support site: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12322/is-skypekit-being-discontinued
This for example forced Trillian, IM+, Pidgeon and all the others, to stop supporting skype.
Well, this was a bad news because the Skype client sucks totally and is a crap since MS got it and filled with advertisements also.
Apparently the situation has been now partially solved by an anonymous reverser who found that the only thing that prevented skypekit to continue its work was an uid which was apparently sent to the MS servers to distinguish skypekit vs skype client.
Here the blog: http://skype-open-source.blogspot.it/
and particularly the skypekit_noid patch that makes Trillian, IM+ (for desktop) and Pidgeon still work again: http://skype-open-source.blogspot.it/2014/08/real-gateway-to-skype-network.html
The problem now is that the post mention an "anonymous" user and reports no details about what he did. Hence I would ask to the community here if we can "check" that this is safe for using with our skype accounts..
BR,
Shub
