I can see the challenge code in the hex dump. Is there a way of referencing that back to the asm code? I know I know, it's probably a stupid question but I'm a noob

There are many complications in learning English Grammar. You have to understand Sentences, Subjects, Predicates, Verbs, Nouns, Adjectives, Adverbs, Conjunctions and many other things, including figures of speech, rhetoric, sarcasm, simile, and so on.

But, you will not be able to learn *ANY* of them, until you first learn the ALPHABET. A to Z.

Then, and ONLY then can you begin to go higher up the food chain.

If you DO NOT learn the alphabet, you will ask for help on EVERY sentence that is spoken to you. A disadvantage to you. And the person speaking to you.

The world of RCE is the same.

There is debugging, assembling, compiling, linking, disassembling, resources, sections, file formats, tricks, scripting, tools and so on.

But they will be USELESS unless you first learn how to crack.

My suggestion to you is: Instead of cracking, start by reading off with +ORC's tutorials (very old, but still gold), learning your tools, and cracking small, older versions of real life programs - Winzip 4 and Mirc 5 come readily to mind. Download the INTEL manuals. Learn the stepping stones of your trade. THEN start to hit other programs. Of course, now-a-days, you can also get videos (Tiga and Lena) of learning how to crack.

Otherwise, you'll continue asking questions like the above.

And sooner than later, someone's on this board is bound to blow.

Peace.

Thanks for heads up. I would like to learn but sometimes it's very difficult to know what to do first when overwhelmed with information so thanks for your above suggestions.

Howdy,

While it might be difficult, there are tons of tutorials out there to help you learn.
You need the intel manuals so you understand what is going on else, you will never learn.
