Ok,
having read the FAQ's and a little through Crknotes.zip, the task before me seems extremely daunting.. maybe impossible at my level.

I want to crack a Deskey DK2 protected x64 program, (I have the dongle for the next 2weeks) with little or no knowledge of methods thus far.

My question is this: Am I being realistic?... I mean, looks Its going to take me months, possibly years to become any way proficient at this and dongled programs being the most difficult to crack, doesnt look like I stand a chance

I know its lame, but is paying someone else to do it an option?

Initially I was just looking for a dongle emulator, but then I went down this road.. maybe I shouldnt be here..

Hiya,

I suppose you've almost answered your own question. If your sole objective is just to break a particular programs protection then it becomes a fairly simple 'cost of paying someone to do it for you' vs 'your own cost of learning in hours' type of decision. And you'd be almost certainly right that unless you value your time very cheaply its unlikely to be worth learning.

Alternatively, you might consider this as a first step to a career, an interest, an intellectual challenge or you might just be bloody minded enough to 'want to do it for yourself'.

The choice is yours ;-).

Regards,

CrackZ.

Thankyou Crackz for the thoughtful reply.

I would like to keep tinkering away and develop some understanding with this (could you suggest a beginner program to crack?), but as I have a time constriction here, im gonna have to ask for help

I guess if anyones interested please PM me

Never be afraid to ask for help, just explain what you have done to get up to the point where you need help.

Also depending upon where you start from is relative to how much you have to learn. There is no way to test creativity and idea wrapping(ideas you find are analogous to the things you already learned) that i know of at least..

If you want to learn about reverse enginering, try crakmes.de website and start with level1 applications. These are the easier ones, mostly SN#/keygens types. The site provides small applications from level1 (easier) to level10 (very very hard) provided by the public. But if you want to stick with the dongles, just do some google searches. I remember reading a few tutorials before, that can give you an idea on what to do.
