I know this sounds petty and that we a lucky to have a board, but, can the colors be changed?

The dark gray and blue and dark tan and black are hard for an, let's say not a spring chicken, to read.

There are just two skins available with this mb, this one, the default for UltraBoard 2000 and the darker one, which is perhaps a little hard to read sometimes. I will try out both and see which one is best for this forum.

Yes, the silver/black is much better, can even read withiout the bi-focals.
