There was an add in "USA Today" this Monday looking to hire a software reverser. They wanted C/C++ experience and familiarity in reversing techniques using SoftIce. They're also looking for someone that has or can get Top Secret clearance. It's a govt job in McClain Virginia. Isn't that where the CIA headquarters is localted?
Sounded kinda interesting.....

this smells.... since when does the state security world look for applicants who would potentially be granted TS clearance in the public media?

This job offer may in fact, be genuine, as strange as this sounds..
Not all that long ago, the British Secret Service were recruiting applicants that could 'reverse' (not hack) their web page in order to gather the 'secret' words/phrases they had hidden within it.
The job offer in the USA sounds like they are looking for someone who is self-educated in Reversing, rather than someone who was taught in a class room. There's a big difference between being self-taught where you develop your own reversing methods and being shown what to do & think in a class room environment.
As for having Top Secret clearance.. If someone had worked for 'them' previously as an outside/independant contractor they would already have the nessasary security clearance for this particular job.

The British one was more codebreaking, and the pay was truly awful. I hope this one pays better

now... top secret clearance, nope.
