I might need some help with HomeSite 4.5. I just need something so I can start examining the code. My problems:

- I can't disassemble with w32dasm
- I can't set any bpx ( It doesn't work, only API functions will break)

Thats about it, does anyone know some more about the HomeSite protection?

Well, far as I remember the Homesite protection is rather weak, but I'm not sure whether they updated it or not. Cracking version 4.0 was a walk in the park.
Anyway, check Tsehp's mirror for a tut on homesite. It'll tell you something like "check the target with regmon" to find the counter.
Will have a look at it myself, would be fun to see if they changed their protection.

It's very easy to get at Homesite, tried the new version myself. Basically it just keeps a counter in the registry, where it stores the # of days left. The # doesn't start at 60 (60-day trial) but something different. To get a 40060 day trial, just add 40000 to that #. Use regmon to catch the call (hint, they are stupid enuff to check the value every time u open the about box).
The rest is not the big deal. Remove the splash by checking the createwindowexa calls and then kill the one that shows the nag. That's pretty much all there is to it
