You must do the following instructions or setup will fail
At the "Select Components" screen
Select everything "except Content and Sentinel drivers"
im using (i6comp by:fossil & morlac) to decompile the data1.cab
i want to make it so that Content & Sentinel drivers are nolonger an option...
but im not sure what file to edit in installshield to change the options
i cant seem to find any setup.ins script to decompile....Any ideas

Hello deadkid !
1.: Don't ask how to get cracks working !
2.: Can you read (can't you?) "Please, no Crack or Serial requests as it offends our intelligence"
3.: As InstallShield is no reversing tool, this post belongs to none of the forums, apart from "General considerations, off topic problems, Humor, Flames" perahps, try it. (Check it, your deleted topic could be here.)
4.: You can't use i6comp to decompile DATA1.CAB, just to unpack it.
5.: I've never heard that someone patched a SETUP.INS. They just created a new project and took the SETUP.INS from that project.
6.: Are you sure if it's InstallShield 6 if you've no SETUP.INS? You could look for a .MSI file. Then it can be ANY installation system which supports the Windows Installer Service.

you can, it's some compiled script language with tokens, read my borland c++ essay and other installshield related.

Hello tsehp !
I don't know your Borland C++ essay. Where can I find it? (I'm to lazy to search)
Well, a BASIC interpreter is also some kind of compiled script language, but it's easier to understand.

(source code appended to the interpreter and compiled at runtime)
But since the .INS file structure isn't so well documented (I personally know no document) I thought it would be easier to create a new project and use it's SETUP.INS.
Sorry, but I was confused about THAT kind of post !

Hey guys, InstallShield version 6 and up uses .INX files not .INS files, they are very similar in structure but different that's why there is no decompilers for the .INX files. As for changing the options for the installation, creating a new project with the InstallShield SDK is my suggested approach. Make sure you used the same version SDK as the installer used by the application.
That's just my opinion.

Hello goatass !
I have a decompiler for .INX files.
What's the difference between InstallShield and InstallShield SDK?

well it depends what you call what. I refer to InstallShield as the installer that you execute when you want to install something. The installshield SDK I refer to the tool you get from InstallShield site to make your own installations.
BTW, you mind sharing with the rest of us your decompiler for the .INX files ?? The one's I've seen don't work.

This is a slightly extended version of Andrew de Quinceys installshield decompiler.

First of all, there is an IS6 decompiler, and a good one at that. Get ISD from h**p://nekosuki.virtualave.net
Second, unless you really know what you're doing, changing an IS script is not the best way to go. If you're doing this to learn about IS and INS/INX files, then by all means go ahead and explore. If you're just doing it to make LW7 easier to install for your friends though, don't bother. Just use it as the group released it. Chances are very good they made it that way for a reason.

Hello goatass !
I meant ISD when talking about a .INX decompiler. I found it somewhen on w*w.suddendischarge.com. I've nerver used it to decompile a .INX for some purpose, just to see if it's working and put it then to my "OTHER" directory.
Hello Kythen !
I didn't know the address of ISD's homepage, but the version there is the same I have from w*w.suddendischarge.com. It's listings look in a way of chaos. I don't know if InstallShield accepts this listings, I've never tried it.
Hello deadkid !
Why don't you buy LightWave 7? It can't be SO expensive. It's only protected by ONE dongle. Have you thought of buying InstallShield? With East and West Language Packs you should get a single user licence for only $7.000
At this point I want to thank Preacher and The Archivist.
They kept up Suddendischarge for so long time. Tragically their server's harddisc has crashed and it's down now and the tools are lost. I wish them all luck they can get to find a new server.
Memories to their work will always remain in our hearts.
