I have a problem :
softice still doesn't work on winxp, theowl told me I have to wait for numega's final ds release 2.05 or 2.06

I use sice to debug my tracer, so as long as sice doesn't work, mine will not also work.

Thanks if someone can notify me

Dont mean to speak out of turn here but I think that XP has quite some security in place to stop debugging on systems by users who do not have permission. They tried to implement the same thing in Win2K but this pretty much had no effect on what you could an could not do. I was wondering if this had anything to do with it.

Make sure that your XP account has the "Debug programs" "local security policy" rights under "User Rights Assignment". To access this, run "secpol.msc" from the Run menu, make changes and Reboot.

Dont know if it helps but it might be worth a look.

so somebody got details how they did the thing work ?
impeaching sice to redirect idt for int's 1 , 3 and others ?
making a check if winxp seh is not called ?

just to know if we could add later a 'crack' right into the security tokens

later

Well, driverstudio 2.5 final still only supports XP Rc2 and not the final (as released by Devilsown) so that's bad news : /

I haven't actually tried it but since Numega are saying it my guess is that it's true. The only way to get softice working is by using those debug symbol files (ntoskrnl.dbg/.pdb) which are impossible to get at the moment so it seems...

Back to win2k for me for now I guess.

Tsehp > will ya stop asking some indirect warez request on this damned site

Eternal_looser > well, but... you know this is just to test the system

Tsehp > will ya stop will ya ?

Eternal_lloser > but...

Tsehp > Shut up ! now this is for the last time : no warez requests, ok but ds 2.5 is not a warez, it's a necessary tool :

download a keygen for numega product, register on their site by giving your mums address, then download the latest version and finally ask me for a good lawyer when dmca will prosecute all registered ip's on their server

Well, since were quoting from the Numega website now here's my part:

"*Upgrades and New Products
Windows 2000 Debug Symbol Translation Patch

NuMega DriverStudio v2.5 and SoftICE DriverSuite2.5 now available! "

And then when you click the link:

"Introducing DriverStudio's 2.5 Release
DriverStudio Version 2.5 & SoftICE Driver Suite Version 2.5
DriverStudio Version 2.5 promotes the development of high quality drivers and accelerates the development life cycle in three important ways:

...ladidadida...

Feature Benefit
New for all DriverStudio components
Support for Windows XP (RC2) Improves time-to-market of device drivers for Windows XP by allowing developers to quickly build device drivers for the new Windows XP operating system."

There, support for RC2 only atm... but I guess that when XP is released in stores (26th of this month?) an update will get out soon.
