Hello Bengaly !
I don't know what the book is about. Would you mind telling us something more specified? (apart from "lies behind cryptography"
I think you should know if really someone is interested in this before scanning a whole book.

Thats a mighty big book to scan. (400+pages i think)
I doubt there is an E-book, he has already written about the flaws in Ado**s E-book format.
Peace, Woodmann

I don't think TXT format is a good format for e-books
but we should say thanks for your warm-heart.

this is what written in the Back of the book for description:
"just as applied cryptography was the bible for cryptographers in the '90s, so secrets and Lies will be the official bible for INFOSEC in the new millenium, i didn't think it was possibal that a book on business security could make me laught and smile, but schneir has made this subject very enjoyable "
The author says this:
" i have written this book partly to correct a mistake.
Seven years ago i wrote another book: Applied Cryptography.
in it I described a mathematical utopia: algorithms that would keep your sepest secrets safe for millenia, protocols that could perform the most fantastical interactions,-unregulated gambling, undetectble authentication, anonymous cash-safely, and secretly.........bla bla
The result wasn't pretty, readers belived that cryptography was a kind of magic security dust that they could sprinkle over thier software and make it secure.....bla bla
got the idea?
hope so tell me if u think i should make it an ebook or something.
bye

Hi Bange!
Just to let you know don't forget to use OCR FineReader 4 or 5
on scanned pages. Will convert the text 90-95% accurately.
Good Luck

Greetings Bengaly!
Sure, I know what you mean, one can perhaps not
buy all books, that one wish to read.
It would be kind of expensive....
Anyway, I can't wait to see the final result!

He didn't make ANY money off of Blowfish or Twofish. Both are free and in the public domain. He is making money off of the solutions he proposes in Secrets and Lies.

I just stumbled upon this thread while searching for something else. I read this book a few years ago. For those of you who are considerring reading it, don't waste your time. I can sum up the entire book with the following: "Systems are complex and are difficult to secure."

Yeah, Bruce didn't write that book for security people; he wrote it for managers & suits who often think that security is a feature you can add in after-the-fact, that it's a product you can buy.
You summed it up very well, but Bruce was trying to beat it into their heads with every illustration of that point he could think of.
