Can anyone shed some light on a puzzling phenomena for me?

In Sice (4.0.5), whenever I "BPR xxx:xxxxxxx xxx:xxxxxxxx rw" on an ASPROTECT 1.2/1.3 target, my system freezes. It matters not whether any "add-on" is running (icedump, icepatch, loader etc) and it happens every time.

Does anyone know why? And if ya do, is there any way around it?

It would certainly stop me scratching ma heed!

TIA

Could be:

* Anti-ICE code.

* Using Windows ME

* Code messing up Ring-0

* Maybe you need to try *without* the "add-in"

Alternatively...

Get an UNASPROTECT (or something like that) deprotector for the same. Run your exe through it. Work on the newly created uncompressed/uncrypted exe. Run reVirgin to make imports or use PDUMP32 to do the same.

...have Phun.

Thanks for the replies folks.

No "generic" unpacker on public release will unpack this app for me (which is why I'm doing it manually!) and yeh, it most likely is anti-sice code. I just wondered whether this was a common characteristic of Aspro which could be quickly overcome.

It's not a major deal as the OEP is easy enough to find with IceLoad.
Anyway, it was more a puzzzle than a major prob, but thanx for spending the time to answer.

Catch yas all later.

Oh, and Merry Xmas! Ho Ho Ho
