my question is only to know if the xp serial scheme got reversed to a keygen or any topic covering this?

i wasnt online since weeks so dont blame me for ignorance.

Don't know if there is actually a KeyGen for the serial activation, but haven't seen one in my searches.

There is one calling itself "win XP keygen", but it is actually allegedly a keygen for the CD serial. Actually it is only a lame dialogue box that contains 5 CD Key codes that the author got from somewhere. It doesn't "generate" anything.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to run XP, (just a personal view) but there are releases of the corporate version that are reported to work and which do not have the activation system in them. However the downloads are approx. 450+Mg, and at the speeds most of those sites operate, would take about 20+ hours on a 56K modem line.

I would highly recommend that you make use of the search button at the top of the forums page. Typing "microsoft activation" into the box will lead you to several informative threads about this subject, including the article referenced by ^DAEMON^ ,which was actually posted here on 11-14-01. Using the site from that earlier post you will also find some tools for analysing some of the things checked by the activation system.

Going to google and typing "microsoft activation" and/or "microsoft activation protection" will get you many many more articles to review. Searching for "win xp kengen" would have lead you to this article:

seem kinda nasty...if they work by checking an internal database,who is probably the job,look effective waste of time.
My main was to modify the corporate serial so cant look like thousand installed corporate with same sn.
People on there are not stupid but do not change the serial in registry
activation jump in the next reboot.

At least in Win98 you can patch the verification DLL before entering the serial number and so it accepts all nunbers as input.

I don't know if this works on WinXP or Win2000, but I had never any effort installing it. It works on ME too, but I don't know if Microsoft checks the serial somehow online. WinNT and Win95 have the old serial scheme, so they where no problem.

Im running what appears to be a professional XP OEM Corporate full version. Thats what the 1.5$ cd says . I've had no pop ups what so ever regarding activation or time limit. My question is how to tell the truth of what I installed?
Is it really what is says? an oem corporate full version
or is it a cracked version with newer files replaced from an old one?
What files is there to check as I cant see the wpa file that stores the activation data?

Any help will be appretiated.
oh, Has the M$ update site any prbs with progIDs being duplicated? Cause man, Im 90% sure that all the ppl in my country have the same serial .

Possible, never heard of it, but when having reformated my HD there are not much possibilities connecting to the internet before you're forced to enter a valid serial. So a boot disc with HIEW 5.31 is your only friend. I don't know when I did it the first time, but I'm sure it was before I had a connection to the internet.



You can look at the CD. If it's not bootable some files have been replaced for sure. After that you could look at the CD image (you must make one). If it says something of NERO, ADAPTEC, ... in the TOC it's not the original. If it says CDIMAGE 2.46 by Microsoft, Redmond it's probably original.

Still, any body knows which files are replaced in that cracked version were files are replaced by an older version?
