Hullo,

Search for hw*.ini in the C:\windows and subdirectories!

Besides, is it really necessary, that the protection *should* exist in the registry/external files ? Not so.

A simple .dll or the .exe (for that matter HexWorkshop .exe) could be undergoing changes. Try snooping there.

Better to disassemble the .exe and *force* it to reveal its own mystries.

Hello Toto !

I'm running Hex Workshop 3.11. My version does not have the HW*.INI file anywhere and removing the three "Breakpoint" entries in the registry (after uninstalling it) does the job when reinstalling it.

Hex Workshop is quite old (Jun 3 2000) so I think you would not have to make up too much with your mind in order to keygen it.

yeah, Hex Workshop has not been updated for a long time. I often use it to search Unicode strings, but it seems to have a bug. If you press "Home" key in it, you will know what I say.

Are there any other hex editors which can search Unicode strings? Thx

Hello Solomon !

I don't know a tool to search for UNICODE, but you could follow this (http://www.woodmann.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2542) thread to find a solution.

Where does the "Home" error happen? I can use the "Home" key in disc-view, file-view, search history and without a file opened without any problems.

thx DakienDX, I will read it.

I'm using a localized version of Hex workshop, when I press ctrl+home, somtimes it can't go to the correct location. I will get the original English ver.
