Just a wish-list to the adminsitrators of the board..


Would it be possible, to add a [save entire thread as .zip] button to all thread beginnings? This is because some threads are REALLY good, one would like to store them, but has to keep pressing File->Save as (and of course, the attachments within them are not stored) so you have to store them seprately. And then some threads go into pages...

Just a thought.

Well, not really a solution, but for threads that go into multiple pages, you could save the printable version of the thread... doesn't solve the attach problem though

This is not possible at the moment and unlikely in future.

If you only want to save one specified thread, you should use a program called Teleport Pro. I don't know it myself, but I heard many times of it on this board.

There should be no problem with this. Please read also this this (http://www.woodmann.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2201) thread to understand why we can't add a ZIP feature.

I always use Offline Explorer Pro(w*w.metaproducts.com) to grab sites. It has a good filter feature.

Saving the print version is as good as your gonna get.
You will have to get all the attachments afterwards.

There are a few site rippers out there, I dont know how
good they are. We did have that problem with tel-port that
never got resolved.(I think)

Perhaps a bot might be an option.
There are bots here that gather information.

I was the one who raised the issue before with Teleport Pro. The problem is that there are currently approximately 2,300 threads and over 12,000 posts. Attempting to download the entire site on a 56K modem line took forever and didn't get all the material.

Filtering for just the printthread portion might be an answer, but there still remain a huge volumn of threads to acquire. As others suggested, the printable version saves a smaller version, without as many graphics for all the buttons as using "save as".

The other day I downloaded a program that creates an index of html pages and I'm going to attempt to make an index of the huge amount of materials I've down loaded. Sometimes I have trouble deciding into which category or categories to put an article or thread I've downloaded. This, of course, makes it more difficult to fine something you "know" you have on your HD.
