I have version 2.5 and 2.6 from the same source as you but haven't actually installed either yet. I'm still running ver 4.05 on Win98SE. I am not sure which files exactly are necessary, but most of the files are there to permit debugging of programs or things other than Window$. I am also on a 56k modem and have spent days downloading some files.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to try to install ver 2.6 and then I can give you a better answer of which files are needed just for Windows and might be able to help get some of them to you.

Regards.

Evaluator:

Don't be fooled by the version number. Back in December +Splaj did a post about hiding DriverStudio 2.5 on NT machines and reported there was some confusion about the proper number for the version. Part of that thread (you will find it if you do a search for "IceDump" included this comment:

and anyway what fuxin build is it ? SI :- DS2.5.0 ( b240 ) or properties :- 4.2.5 (Build 824) duh ???

I believe this means that the DriverStudio 2.5 WICE actually is 4.2.5.824 and that IceDump 6.024 will work. I believe that the 6.025 will work with the releases of DriverStudio 2.6 and that the version in there will identify as "922" in the "properties" window. Still haven't had time to install it yet. It's 3:00a.m. where I am and I need some sleep. Check back later, but I recomment that you install what you have and try IceDump 6.024. It should work.

Evaluator:

After playing with both DriverStudio 2.5 and 2.6 and not getting IceDump to load either I noticed something that I hadn't noticed before. When the DOS window loads and starts to run IceDump it appears to be identifying with the version of the "Loader," not the version of SICE. I'm not sure this is true, but it is what is written at the top of the DOS window. Having said that I still don't know why the version numbers don't match.

For example the Loader32 for DriverStudion 2.6 which I have says that it's version number is "336," which is a hell of a long way from "922." However, the "siremote" loader says its version is "922." I don't know if this means that at some point they updated the Loader32 for 2.6 or what.

Maybe someone else out there can answer this question and why is the version of the "FINAL" DriverStudio 2.5 Loader32 "240" when IceDump says its looking for "824"??? And does the Loader, itself, have to be running, or just SICE???

I didn't have these problems with SICE 4.05. I booted SICE from a menu at start-up and ran the IceDump version and it worked.

So, JMI, what version WICE is included in your DS 2.6?

JMI
February 11th, 2002, 04:05
As I said in my previous post, Ver 2.6 WICE and Loader32 are 2.6.0.336 and the "siremote loader" is version 2.6.0.922. I still don't know why.

Typing "VER" in WICE from DriverStudio 2.6 gives the listing as Softice 2.6.0 (build 336) as I said. The loader is also version "336" and the "siremote" is version "922".
