All Adobe PDF files are protected using "weak" RC4 40-bit keys (except the latest ones which are 128 bit).
Seek and ye shall find

Hello foxthree !
All PDF files are protected? No, only PDF files which have a password set. And when disabling printing you don't need to set a password.
This is just plain "Disabled Menu Item" Reversing.

It's not such a bad approach, DakienDX. The digital rights management stuff is in a tag in the file and you can rewrite it. I guess you could hack your PDF reader so it never disables the printing, but you could also change the file.
There's a default password you can apply that makes the file unreadable unless you implement your own parser. But the file format is fully documented; either get it from adobe or wotsit.org.

Hello mike !
You could of course change every .PDF file you're opening. But I find it more comfortable to enable the menu item in general, since it will also work with files protected by a password. Of course this is just cracking and finding the password is reversing, but reversing must be done for every password (default or user) and every file must be patched. So you have to think how you will need it. If you want to print documents, cracking is good, if other people should be able to print them, it would be better to change the .PDF files.
I did this in 4.05 (Acrobat Reader, not SoftICE) with no problems. I think it works even with 5.0, since if the file can be shown on screen, it can be also printed.
