I know there has to be a forum where the winice.dat file is explained. I just loaded si 4.05 on w/2000 and i've never used it. I have tried following many tuts, but despite uncommenting everything in my winice.dat file and trying to run the simplest of commands, I have no success. If i run Bpx Hmemcpy, I get 'Symbol not defined.' If i run TASK, i get No LDT. If i run any Breakpoint (Bpx), it's not defined. Isn't there a good tut/forum for using si the first time?
Much thanks,
jeff

Look to Mammon's tale for some good info on configuring and using s-ice. It should be readily available at many spots (you can also just search for "Mammon tale softice" on google, that should do the trick).
Anyway, the problem you're having usually relates to the ;'s in the winice.dat, as you rightly point out. Make sure that you've uncommented the right lines (uncommenting all lines may not be the right way to do it). Specifically, the lines you want uncommented for use with bpx are the "exp=" ones. Make sure the path is right.
However, I've never come across the "No ldt" problem, and I suspect that that might point in another direction, suggesting that your copy either doesn't work under win2k or the setup may have been screwed.

Hmmm...
Also there is *NO* hmemcpy on WinNT based oses (which mean Win2K also). There is memcpy but this is not equivalent to hmemcpy. So bpx on hmemcpy will *NOT* work!! This is reserved only for 16-bit subsystem apps under WinNT based OSes I think
