In amongst the expanding amount of spam I receive eveyday (hmmm I do loce contacting their IPS and complaining about unsolicited mail) I received this :

As a software developer, are you tired of people stealing your work?

Would you like to maintain control over who uses your products without greatly inconveniencing your customers?

Would you like to license your products the way Microsoft does?
*

*** Copy protection and 'dongles' are seldom used anymore because most software buyers won't tolerate them. Shareware is a nice concept, but in practice, it clearly doesn't work very well.

*** A better method is to license software products using encryption techniques and the Internet in a flexible, efficient manner.

*** We have developed a low-cost programmer's toolkit called ProCrypt that will allow you to quickly and easily setup your web site and make your products 'license-able'.

*** We want to give the 'little' guy the same ability to do this that the 'big' guys have.

Anyway I have never heard of ProCrypt before so the url is:

hppt://w*w.prosentia.com/procrypt.asp

So lets help them out , as anybody who offers software protection just like microsofts needs all the help that they can get.

Hmmm...wonder if it can be got around by writing a replacement ActiveX control...it's gotta leave a pretty large swath of the program unencrypted for it to be able to init the ActiveX controls etc...leaving the question, is it even encrypted ?

Hmmm, time to go target hunting ...and then umm...revise for exams (god I hate geology!)
