Here's the unpacking method that works best:
1. Find a table
2. Put the packed box on it
3. Analyze what its packed with: PAPER? THREAD? RIBBON?
4. Decide on using appropriate tools: HANDS? KNIFE? SISSCORS?
5. Note down each step so that you do not have to RETRACE the whole process again.
6. After initial round of UNPACKING is done, you can RIP THE WRAPPER apart, Cut it or simply slice through it.
7. Open box, enjoy goodies.
Dear LORD!!!!
But seriously Snake, but seriously!!
Do the following:
1. Read the FAQ.
2. Find a site that TEACHES about unpacking
3. FInd a packer
4. Pack notepad
5. Get tools from net to unpack
6. Try unpacking the packed notepad with that tool (so many tuts also support the same method)
7. You're done (In case you have problems, ask here)
8. But before asksing, make sure you TELL us the following:
(a) The tools you have used
(b) the application you are using
(c) The method/approach to the problem
(d) The locations where YOU think the protections are, or the unpacking code is
(e) Some patching (raw/inmem) that you have tried
After all this, if you have any questions ask us. This may seem a little too much to ask for, but compare this with going to a doctor.
Snake: Cure me! Cure me! Cure me!
Doc: Sure, but what's the problem?
Snake: Cure me! Cure me! Cure me!
Doc: Yeah! But tell me the symptoms, the areas of pain, your feelings..
Snake: Cure me! Cure me! Cure me! Cure me! Cure me! Cure me!
...you get the idea.
If you do not do the above, more enthusiastic volunteers like CLUESURF will reply the way they did, and you will get discouraged pretty soon.
MADE EFFORT, WILL ASSIST!!

Hi Aimless,
Very funny your post and the analogy with the doctor

I think you are right 100% in what you say.
My little advice to the Snake to learn manual unpacking is the following: "Just take something that is packed and trace it from the beginning and you'll see all the "magic" inside "the unpacking" and all your questions about unpacking will be answered by yourself

" Believe me, no needed for an unpacking course, etc...just you and the debugger.

Hey!
At least look at the bottom or try to use search engine, etc.
Go on.
We know English is not your first language, but if you want to participate in English language forums you need to understand certain basic information in English. One of the things you need to understand is the rules of the forum. One of the rules here is that you are supposed to use your brain and eyes and do some work on your own before you post a request
If you had done any looking and any thinking about unpacking you would have discovered that there are several links at the bottom of the forums which will take you to sites with many many tutorials on many many subjects for you to study. I would suggest that you try Krobar's site and read up as much as you can on unpacking. It is a subject you will need much background reading on before you are ready for manual unpacking. This is not the place to ask someone to take your hand and teach you every thing from step one on any subject.
Those here will help you when you show you have made an effort on your own, what you have done, and where you are having trouble after trying it on your own. Study, try, and then come back and ask question about specific issure.
Regards.

Well, i also laughed a lot about the "unpacking"-Tutorial, that u give to Snake, but please don't forget:
This is a Newbie-Forum, so you have to assume even Newbie-questions.
Don't leave anybody alone in this magic world. Give him a headbang and a handshake and at least a good help on his way!
So, if the originator of this thread r looking for tutorials in different languages then english, look here:

Ok, ok - it's well known, but for me it was a good point to start from.

I too agree with ReaL|sTy. newbies can also send their queries in this section. The veteran cracker should not harass by saying that YOUR POST WILL BE DELETED.
