Hi ?ferret,
I don't believe you have a password for
VGirl, send it to me and prove it :-)

IIRC, part of the protection was that you had to run
the program with the data files which you got once
the program was registered. If Ferret has the
password, and probably the relevant data files, I'm
sure there's some zero knowledge way of proving
it to you without revealing the relevant keys.
Previous versions were fairly straightforward, but I
haven't had a look at the latest version.

hi,
I know ?ferret has a sense of humour and thats exactly what the post was. I am quite capable of reversing it myself if I so desired.

hehe...hola hz ;-)
yes, NB it's pretty starightforward......it compares [your serial (in hex) * a fairlay large hex #) to a byte in a .prf file....since it compares this equation to only 1 byte, you have to make the serial large enough to get the register to wrap around (FFFFFFFFh+29h=28h)
It doesn't check the name at all.
The website login, however may or may not be a different story :-)~

Hi ?ferret,
Thanks but I never d/l VGirl (much prefer the real thing), it was just a bit of fun that
seems to have gone down like a brick.

Another method of registering vg is rename any .BK1 file to .BK3 and load

Ya, but where's the fun in that? ;-)
(I actually haven't seen any limitations in unregistered version, other than if you're not registered, you can't download the full set of files)
hz...I did catch your l'il joke. I was just confirming to NB that the protection is still straightforward and contained in about 8 lines of ASM ;-)

Thanks for the confirmation about the keygen
routines. I haven't looked at this one in
a bit. Actually at the time I looked at it
for the cheap cost of it, I was going to
give them money to grab the files, but their
credit card verification system wasn't working
at the time.

ya....$3 is pretty cheap ;-)
I doubt if the same name/serial combo would work for the site anyway, as the name isn't checked in the proggie's calcs (I'm sure they add user priveleges of some sort to registered users for d/l'ing)
I haven't actually tried at the site, but like I said, quite doubtful that it would work
