Hi everyone.
I am using softice 4.0 on a windows 98se system.
Here's my question.
I loaded the correct version of icedump.
( dos box pops up that says it's loaded )
However in sice, i get invalid command when i try typing
in /protect on with the forward slash.
I did find out that i need to have kernel32, and user32 dll files
enable in softice.dat and I do.
Even though the message says it loaded, obviously it didn't.
I coppied the icedump.exe to the numega directory, and the
windows/system32/drivers directory.
I read that you didn't need to do this, but i tried it anyway
just in case.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance.

Hiya JAS,
theres nothing wrong coz its a external command just press "enter" after typing theabove command.
there are two ways to check if icedump is loaded
just type '/' without qutoes and "enter" and you can see icedump commands.
the second is try /screendump yourpath:\any.txt and later check your root directory if theres the txt

Hi Cluesurf.

Yep you are right.
I guess i didn't think too much before posting that one. hehehe
I have never used icedump b4 and it's been awhile since the
last time i reversed anything.
The deal was, I was trying to unpack a file that has anti-debug tricks.
It knows when sice loaded... icedump took care of most of that. ( /protect on )
However, the program can still see it when you set breakpoints.
I thought that icedump would cover those traces as well, but in this case it didn't.
Take Care.

Maybe an obvious point, but are you using SuperBPM (bpmb xxxxxxxx) in Win98SE?
