Can anybody tell me why my sice 4.05 (NT ) on win2k is not
displaying that little short black screen whereas all the activities freezes as i start sice by pressing ctrl-D. Here ctrl -D works the same way as it should .
all activities are paused but no change of view ,
black screen is absent. when again i press f5 or ctrl-D all movements are restored.
i have used generic vidio driver at installing time.my
other relevant informatin are as follows-

H.P. plug and play monitor

H.P. ProSavage PM133(TM) display adapter
driver files are::- s3NBm.sys
& s3NB.dll

can anybody tell me what to do for display...of softice.

Some problem here. Win2K SP3 on a GeForce4 Ti4200 with the latest drivers at the moment, which is v40.72

I had trouble booting too -- did you have to escape on the "press escape to skip softice" prompt? Might explain the problem if it isn't correctly loaded.

I haven't run softice in over a year, but I'd like to get it up and running again so any insight into this would be appreciated.

Did either of you perhaps use the "search" button here and inquire about "softice" and "video cards" and/or "screen" and/or "freeze"?? Issues with the screen not working or freezing, etc have been discussed on many threads here. A little review is in order.

Some. but not necessarily all these problems can be solved by updating Sice to the 2.7 DriveStudio version. Check out these earlier threads. There are still issues with some of the Geforce Display cards reported.

Regards.

"softice freeze" gave only one relevant hit which a thread that suggests a downgrade to 5.x nvidia drivers (ain't gonna happen!) or getting the Special Debug Symbols from MS. The URL was stale but I found it now at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/tools/symbols/

.. which is a 100Mbyte download. <sigh>

Use the symbol dowloader util that comes with DS2.7 (probably the ones before too), then you can grab the ones you need
