I have just installed Driverstudio 2.7 and I can't see SI anymore. After pressing CTRL-D, everything freezes, SI is there, but nothing happens until I press CTRL-D again to return to W2k (I'm using video card GE Force, W2k SP3 and universal video driver in SI - changing to full screen VGA mode nothing happens). I have found in this MB some references to the same problem and the thing seems to be related to SIWVID. But until now I can't figure out how to solve the problem. Has anyone a clue about it? Thanks in advance.

OK,
Just so you know, there are a lot of people who are having
problems with GE FORCE video cards.
I have a Rage video card, to use my generic windows drivers I have to do the following.
Go to: My computer-control panel-display-settings-advanced-adapters-properties-driver-update.
Check the display known drivers box (or whatever it is called)
This will now allow you to manually change your video driver.
My Rage has something called "vga compatible" this is the generic
driver that makes this video card work on anything. It runs in 256 colors with the "blind" person screen resolution.
If this does not work, the easiest hting to do is go to : system-hardware-device manager-click on display adapters and highlight it then right click and un-install. Restart on the way out and PNP will get you back on track.
Good luck, and you cant charge me for someone to fix this if it doesnt work. If you dont feel comfortable doing this then dont do it.

And, We could add that it would have been good to have searched the Board BEFORE you posted your question, because, as Woodmann said, there have been many with similar problems with the new SI and video cards.

Hi,
Please drop the "gods" crap. Names on a screen, thats all everyone is.
Now, how about getting back to the problem of trying to get a
GE FORCE video card to work with SI.
Who makes the GE card ? How about trying the manufacturers
drivers instead of the custom GE ones.
How about checking video memory in SI ?
Maybe try an older driver studio?
There is a solution, you just have to keep trying or else you can wait for DS 2.8 and hope that fixes it.

Choose the Universal Video Driver and then click TEST. Once that's done restart the computer. When you are in windows start softice and everything should be fine, I had that same problem with my nvidia geforce card.
what I'm assuming is you don't know how to bring up the full screen.... that's why you may have messed around with the video and stuffed it up. Just type the following at the sice prompt:
Lines 60 [press enter]
Width 160 [press enter]
both of these settings are suitable for 1024x768 resolution on a 17' monitor.

HI, guys
Read this post and all other related too !
I have the same Pb (Abit Siluro GF2 T400 with DS 2.7 under XP).
Does anybody can tell us Where is really the Pb ( Detonator Driver, Manufacturer Driver, SoftIce Uni-Drv, The video card ..... ?)
I've read in a post, it's due to SIWVID, is that true ? and what is the Pb ?
Thank's to lightning us !

Just for the record, I use Driver Studio 2.7 under WindowsXP on a Geforce 4 4200 without any problems. I use the Uni-driver (SoftIce-in-a-Window driver). Only problem is that I can't use the mouse, but don't really want to anyway.

Hi, all
i've finally set DS 2.7 and GeForce 2 to work fine !
Where was the problem ?
My motherboard is a MSI K7T266 Pro ( a VIA chipset based one). When installing W98, i need to apply the VIA 4in1 patch to be able to work, then migrating to XP, i have installed theses drivers too but the AGP patch make XP to freeze. So i've formatted and re-installed XP WITHOUT this AGP patch and all is OK.
Now i'm working like a charm with DS 2.7 and my GF2 T400.
Hope this can help other members here !
