Hi,
I've been lookin' for tuts for Key-Lok II, but I haven't been able to get them. Please, to anyone having dealt with such hardware device, any advice, comments or guidelines are welcome.
There are a lot of info about, hasp, rainbow, etc... but regarding this one I have found almost nothing...

Hi,
If you are just looking for info about the dongle, you
may find some usefull stuff on their website.
If you have the dongle and want to reverse it, take a look
at CrackZ pages. You will get a general idea for what you need
to get started. There is also a reference to keylok on his site.
If you have software but not the dongle........good luck, you
wont reverse it in a few hours unless you can think like a dongle.
You got more info for us ?

Yep, I've got some public manuals from their WebSite. This is usually the first step everybody should follow. I would like, however, to get some documentation "for internal use only".
But they are almost impossible to find.

I know, there is a quantum leap between reversing with dongle and without it. I don't have such device anyway. I have read Crackz pages and they put a lot of light on this topic but, as I said, mainly for mainstream brand models

Hopefully the software vendor was stupid like most of them are. I recommend you hopefully find messages such as "Dongle not found running in demo mode" or "Software limited because dongle not found" ETC. Using IDA trace back several calling routines and lable them check_dongle, check_dongle_2, etc. Eventually you will find the program read dongle. It will be easy from there.

Hi.
Generally any keylok II dongle can be reversed without any need of a dongle. The seeds used for keylok II dongle are 99% of the time embedded within the application simply because the developers api refference is geared to make one do such a horrible thing (: Same goes with envelope btw. I managed to emulate the internal kfunc but that was not needed in the end.
Its a easy dongle to deal with , have fun. -Sab

Hi,
ThnX a lot MTB, Sab and chief Woodman for your kindly support.
From your words guys it seems that this dongle gives a weaker security than sentinel, hasp or hardlock devices. Tracing back msg strings within IDA sounds pretty good and reminds me former security breakin' tasks I've done before.
I will have fun for sure. I'm gonna install the target right now..
