hey, guys
im new into the subject, and there is this new piece of software i wanna crack by myself:it is a new multi-module synthesis/seguencing/effects workstation from Propellerhead (the same guys that made the analog synth simulator Rebirth.)
obviously the soft to crack is a demo, which has the save and exports commands disable and worst of all the program quits every 20 minutes.
Any idea how could i make this happend?
Is it posible for a newbie to do it at all?
and what programs do i need to crack it?
i hope you guys clear me out and thank you in advance for your support.

I agree that this program needs to be cracked, and I would love to start on it myself, being a total newbie.
However, it seems to me that the problem has two branches, one of which you have identified and the other which may or may not be eaiser to beat.
The full version of the .exe asks for the factory soundbank which is a 500 meg file that prevents many folks from downloading this app.
No cracking group has bothered to remove this requirement because they all assume that everyone has a fast connection like they do, and that the soundbank is easy to download.
This soundbank is very effective in limiting the spread of unlicenced Reason.
so....
1. Save disable/Time limit crack ( I have seen a time limit crack but not Save disable)
2. Soundbank requirement crack for full .exe
Hoping for some knowledgeable replies.
What tools would be required for this??
Softice?
Ok what do we look for?
This IS the place to ask surely!

yep, this is the place to ask.....after you try a bit yourself....
20 minute time limit.....should be easy
Things to try
1. 20 min x 60 seconds = 1200 seconds = 4B0h ......search disassembly for a compare to this
2. BPX on one of the API's that has to do with time
Save Disabled...could be tougher
is the code even there to save? or has it been completely omitted? (check the newbies mini project forum....had covered this a while back)
now for what you don't want to hear.....we aren't going to crack it for you, but we will most assuredly help where we can when you get stuck. BUT do some work yourself first, then you can tell us where you're stuck & we can point you in the right direction. I can name 25 or so search engines off the top of my head. How many of them do you suppose would turn up results on a search for "cracking + tutorial + time + limit" or "cracking + tutorial + save + disabled"?
Don't know yet do you? ;-)
OK, I'm gonna climb down from my soap box now ;-)

hello
I expect that there is no code for save fuinction at all and , for my part, I am only interested in the removal of the soundbank requirement in the install .exe
Someone already did a time limit crack and it was pretty irrelevant since the main prog shipped and appeared in the newsgroups etc a week or two later.
I will get a copy of softice then. See you in a while!

If it should be cracked we should ignore the demo for a while and concentrate on the Full versions protection:
1: You need a 500 meg soundbank.
2. Sometimes it asks you to insert the soundbank CD. It doesn't happens everytime. This one also needs to be cracked.
Then we maybe could use one of the patchers to compare the demo with the cracked full version and then make the crack? Or else we need a install shield disasembler or similar.
This is just my opinion, and maybe it sucks. I'm a newbie just as you guys, so don't be to harsh =)

State, the 20 minute shutdown is pretty easy, take a look at 00544d44 (00144D44 hex) and you'll see a conditional jump that'll trigger the shutdown ( a little EB may help here huh), as for the save function, i was working on the demo until i found the full version, kinda gave up on it now, i found in the demo alot of code that was noped out, i confirmed this after i compared it with the full version exe, so i doubt if that function can be restored, anything's posible though, I've tried some crazy things like, using the Demo Sound bank and renaming it then loading it on a Virtual Cd and installing the program. the program installed fine but failed when reading the sound bank (of cousre) but i had to try, i think the Demo Sound Bank would work though, the demo doesn't seem to have any mixing limitations, when you install Reason if you choose to install the sound bank on the hard-drive then it doesn't do the CD check, so i'm thinking if you use the full version exe and hack it, you may be able to get a fully functional version of Reason, BTW, the full version exe is 173kb larger than the demo exe.
