That`s what they write on their site:

"We have started development of our new client and expect to have something available for private testing within the month. We have taken "The Squares of RSA-576" off of our page as it was getting a little confusing, people were mistaking it for the factors of the RSA-576 challenge and actually submitting them to RSA and trying to claim the prize."

As for xbox challenge: isn`t 2048bit key a bit too much ? If the new client will be somehing like used to bf rsa576 it`s gonna take more than eternity to find the private key, and we don`t want m$ to thrive that long, do we ? Anyway 2048 is way too big for any kind of attack, unless ... ever heard of quantum technology ? Some 20 years in the future 2048 key may be as secure as 48 is our days ... ehhmmm this is called progress right ? :]

It turned out to be bogus. That RSA-576 isn't solved. Soon after it came out that it was factored I saw this post in sci.crypt:

---
The RSA-576 challenge number has *not* been factored. It looks as if some
moron took the Squares of RSA-576 from our front page, mistaken them for
true factors and submitted them to RSA, its just got messy from there.
Sorry for the post, next time I will just keep it quiet.

Someone as well (a news reporter) also stated that we factored the RSA-576,
which we did not. They thought the squares of RSA were indeed the
factors...

Sorry,

Does anyone know what numbers they had posted on their site expressing n as a sum of squares?

Yeah; I checked archive.org, but they didn't have anything. I missed the obvious google cache I use every day. Duh...

Most thing i hate is ignorance - so the neo project maximizes this for me - beeing ignorant AND wasting the time, money and belive of other poor people witch cant judge themself what they are donating to.....

I was so angry i posted this (see link) on neo project forum - but even this they dont understand...

http://www.theneoproject.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=650&boardid=2&styleid=1&sid=a37be583744c4e96b462a1b63ec572ce

Hopefully someone will stop them...
