Hello,
MSN apparently doesn't allow one to hide his presence (like the invisible option in icq)
Well it does, but then you can't talk with anyone. you can only send mail to them.
Sometimes it is nice to set your status as invisible, so you can
talk with a specific person.
My idea as a new project is to reverse MSN messanger and to make it allow the sending of messages, even when we are invisible.
Anyone interested ?

That definitly sounds like an interesting project. While we are on the topic of reversing MSN messenger. I wonder if it would be possible to add some form of encryption to the messages. I do not know if that would be extreemly difficult.
Maybe it would function similar to pgp. Just a suggestion.

It may prove a futile attempt if the MSN servers are set up to prevent messages from being sent when invisible mode and not the software itself. Sometimes a cracking project can turn into a hacking project when you are dealing with things such as this. Depends on how well set up the MSN servers are and how they work.

Yes, you are right Snatch.
we need to have a look at it.
but we definitively can add encryption anyway.
Any other guy interrested?

Stop me if I am out of line here but I think that it would be a better plan to go after trillian instead of msn.
I don't know if this is feasible or not. I personally do not have the skills required yet to do something like this. This is just a suggestion.
I am still just reversing crackmes while I learn to program slowly so I am a newbie.
It would make sense though If we were to go after a program to allow encrypted communication that it would be the most functional IM out there. That is trillian or some of the other multi-service messengers for linux.
This could make it increasingly difficult though. Dealing with the different clients but then again just my two cents.

this seems like a very good project, i suppose one way of doing this is to add an option to block temporerelly all other people on your list, and only allow one person to see you, you could have an option when you log on to only see specific people.

Not a lot of ppl seemed interrested.
Meanwhile i switched to trillian, so i hardly have msn installed.
Im still not sure if its possible to do it.
It might be all controlled by the MSN server.

hello Hopcode,
It seens a very interesting projet for MSN, i'm not a reverser and i don't know any thing about programmation, but i'd like to give some idea:
if somebody can add a new fonction in order to count how many smily and "lol" used by the user each conversation, it will be funny.
regards
