I'm looking for good Winsock spy programs, which can monitor communications over e.g. separate TCP-connections, and display the logged data in a good way. Can anyone recommend any such good software (not TracePlus)? What are you using yourself for these tasks?

Thanks for any tips!

Ok, thanks disavowed, I'll be sure to take a look at it.
All I really want right now is a good program for displaying the whole course of a TCP-communication session with an unknown protocol, but I've been looking for a good general packet sniffer too.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions or opinions for such tools? It's always good to have a few good ones to choose from, since they often all have some good features and some things that could be better.

Winsock Spy was a good one. It only shows 20 bytes however in the unregistered version, but it's quite easy to get it to display more

Ok, do you have an URL for this program?
(when searching I get a lot of hits for programs called Winsock Spy, so I can't know which one you mean, and many of them seem to be crappy).

i do not know your intentions, however if you need a wsock spy program that is able to modify outgoing / incomming data then grab yourself WPE PRO 1.3 (98/me) or WPE XP (2k/xp/9x) from
http://fly.to/mtc/

its written by my buddy oliver. theres some help on how to use it (1.3) at www.s-i-n.com/chaos/ under tutorials.

Unfortunately I don't. I remember it was a commercial program with a 20 byte limit, but that's aboit it. I used it for hacking the protocol of WinMX, but soon got bored.
